Country guides

Where you're going

Nine destinations, fourteen pages each. Unlike the tax material, guides are about where you're going — they apply whatever passport you hold. Every changeable figure carries a numbered source and the date it was checked, and anything we could not verify says so on the page.

"I am an American expat. Every tool here exists because I needed it myself and could not find it — just a forum thread from 2014 and a CPA quote I could not justify. NomadSorted is the folder of answers I wish someone had handed me at the airport."

— Robb, founder of NomadSorted

Fair questions

I live abroad — do I still file a US return?

Generally, yes. The US taxes on citizenship rather than address, so US citizens and green-card holders generally file wherever they live, even in years when nothing is owed. The free dashboard shows the dates that generally apply.

What's the FBAR everyone mentions?

A short informational report of foreign financial accounts, filed online with FinCEN rather than the IRS. It isn't a tax and costs nothing to file — done on time it's a ten-minute non-event. The reason people talk about it is that skipping it can carry penalties of up to $16,536 per violation. The cheat sheet covers who it generally applies to.

Will these tools do my taxes?

No. They're templates, trackers and reference guides — they organise your records and dates so filing, or handing a tidy folder to an accountant, is painless. Nothing here computes your tax or files for you.

Can you look at my situation?

No — and that's deliberate. We're not a CPA firm, tax preparer or adviser, and we don't assess anyone's circumstances. We don't file anything for you. We make sure you know what's due, and when.

Is any of this tax advice?

No. All content is for informational purposes only and is not tax, legal, or immigration advice. For advice specific to your situation, a qualified professional is the right call — our material makes that conversation shorter and cheaper.

Sit down. It's mapped.
